I have a passion for the field of Women’s Maternal Health and have been privileged to provide support to many who have experienced perinatal loss at every stage of pregnancy. I am inspired by the strength of women, their capacity to heal and find meaning in remembering their children. I am an advocate for raising awareness of the impact of perinatal loss on women and their families and believe Reproductive Choice should be the cornerstone of Women’s Health, empowering women to make decisions that meet their needs and those they love.
While we have learned that one in six couples experience disappointment and loss related to infertility, the extensive efforts many invest in building their families is often misunderstood. Infertility can cause isolation and the tendency to avoid sharing personal struggles with infertility. Counselling to support women and couples as they navigate the complicated journey to parenting can provide emotional support and reduce the inevitable stress in their relationships.
If everyone around you seems ready to stop listening and you’re not ready to stop telling your Reproductive story, seeking a caring, knowledgeable therapist can be an important part of your healing. Tracing the steps leading to your pregnancy loss and sharing the sadness that comes with a new world where everything has changed, can validate a woman’s experiences. My counselling practice provides a safe place in which to explore the raw, often intense emotions that can surface as women grieve, when even partners struggle to understand their need to talk about the loss.
