Counselling Services

There is no footprint too small that it can't leave an imprint on this world

Challenges associated with fertility, pregnancy and prenatal diagnosis are often difficult for women and their partners to share. When pregnancies sadly end and cherished babies pass, couples face a grief journey that can be filled with sorrow, isolation, and a lack of sensitivity and understanding by even those who care deeply for them.

If everyone around you seems ready to stop listening, but you’re not ready to stop telling your story, seeking a caring, knowledgeable therapist can be an important part of your healing.

Counselling Services

Perinatal loss counselling can help women explore the unique meaning of their baby’s life, no matter how brief, and begin a healing process that will assist them in planning for the future. This type of bereavement follow-up addresses common themes such as gender differences in grief, explaining miscarriage and stillbirth to siblings, returning to work after loss and anxiety during subsequent pregnancy. Using principles in Narrative and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapies, women are supported as they experience longing for their babies and natural fears as they attempt another pregnancy. Encouraged to tell their story in a safe and confidential place, women find strength in the knowledge that grief, sadness and a wide range of emotions are normal and appropriate responses to the loss of a wanted pregnancy that should not be minimized.
